Alexa Chung - It

Sunday 30 June 2013

Breton lover and quirky muse, Alexa Chung has revealed that she will be releasing a book on September 5th. This "not quite style guide, not quite a coffee table tome," shall be called It.
For anyone else that is super excited about this, like myself, can pre-order it (see what I did there?) on Amazon now!

The book will be a collection of Alexa's photography, drawings as well as little things that inspire her. She will include everything from "her thoughts on life, love and music to her favourite looks and how to decide what to wear in the morning".
Alexa told Vogue, "It's definitely not an autobiography, but it's me writing so in a way it probably will have that element."

She has to be one of my all time favourite style icons. She just seems to get everything so spot on. If the book is anything like her instagram pictures, or has an ounce of her humour, then I may be lost for a few days in this book.
I cannot wait!

Everything Is Going To Be All White

Thursday 27 June 2013

White. All White, everything White! This has to be one of my favourite trends at the moment, although, to be honest with you, its also a trend that scares the absolute “you know what” out of me! Its always good to take risks though, isn't it?

The all-white trend has been seen an awful lot recently, especially with Wimbledon being on at the moment. It’s a style that I think suits anyone, all ages and sizes…. As long as you do it right! I think the basic colour block really puts an emphasis on the cut of the garment and is such a statement outfit, you are sure to stand out. I think that this Jill Sander dress bellow is a perfect example!

If it wasn't for me being a poor student, I would most definitely be wearing a head to toe, wide leg, well-tailored, jumpsuit; or maybe even incorporate another trend that I am absolutely in love with at the moment, and that’s the shorts and blazer combination.

If like me you have a "champagne taste but a lemonade budget", then this style is totally "do-able" on the high-street. This is just one out the outfits I have been wearing recently.

White Lace Dress from River Island

Ive been pairing this dress with my emerald green waist-belt from Primark to add a pop of colour or I love to wear a bright lipstick like my Mac "Morange" orange shade or my Dior "Fushia Bright" to add a bit more excitement to the outfit. I've also been wearing it with pair of white patent loafers from Primark last year or these white loafers from New Look.

I think this trend is so great because of how versatile it can be. It’s great for a holiday and even better when you get back to show off your goddess tan but also great for those who, like me, want to embrace the “English Rose” look. Either way, as long as you don’t wear it with cheap fake tan, you are going to look insane!

So all in all, I'm in love with the white-on-white trend! I think it can add sophistication to any of us - just make sure you steer clear of the Ketchup at the summer BBQ!

Rosie for Autograph

Wednesday 12 June 2013

The beautiful Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is back with another lingerie collection for Marks and Spenser’s Autograph line, having previously been the company’s bestselling designer range to date!

The new summer collection features stunning floral prints in some lovely pink hues as well as using delicate French designed lace. It’s just gorgeous!

Head of Lingerie Design at M&S, Soozie Jenkinson, says, "In concepting the new Rosie for Autograph Summer Collection, Rosie and I selected the colours to look beautiful on glowing, sun kissed skin and to have an upbeat, holiday vibe so the palette and print we created for the exquisite silk lingerie was inspired by the beautiful leaves and petals of the stunning 'Sunset Rose', a blend of vibrant cyclamen, tangerine tones, hints of darker blackcurrant and bud green."

Last year I purchased one of her bras and it’s still one of my favourite pieces of underwear. It makes you feel so feminine and is really comfortable and supportive while still remaining pretty and delicate. I would recommend having a look at her collection as it is just stunning yet still does its job at a very reasonable price!

Isabel Marant teams up with H&M

Its been all over Twitter, Instagram & Vogue, its the Isabel Marant/ H&M collaboration and from what I've seen and heard - its going to be awesome!

Margareta van den Bosch creative adviser for H&M said, "We are excited to have Isabel Marant as a guest designer at H&M," "The way she mixes different elements in her collections, creating a style that is effortless and urban, makes her very contemporary. She has a fantastic eye for ethnic detail and the rare ability to create something that people really want to wear. We are sure the H&M customers will be enthusiastic about this collection"

Having previously partnered up with luxury leading names such as Karl Largerfeld, Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson and most recently Maison Martin Margiela, to name but a few, i think we can trust the Swedish chain to do a cracking job! Marant said yesterday that she is "flattered by this collaboration: H&M works with the best designers and this invitation is an exciting honour,"

Arriving in stores on November 14th, the collection with feature clothes as well as accessories for both mens and womenswear. "I aim to create something real, that women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carelessness, which I think is very Parisian: you dress up, but do not pay too much attention and still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be mixed following one's own instincts: my take on fashion is all about personality." This is something i think the high street is really missing at the moment so i cannot wait to go and have a look and most definitely make some purchases towards the end of this year!

Graduate Fashion Week 2013

Tuesday 11 June 2013

Its 4.30am and my phone goes off. Its my friend Katherine ringing me to say "Get up! We have to be on the coach in 5minutes!" So after a rather frantic start, grabbing my camera, Chanel lipstick and dressing notes (all the essentials) I'm on the bus heading to London to be a dresser for Graduate Fashion Week 2013!

For those who don't know much about it, GFW was set up in 1991 and its a huge event for aspiring, future fashion designers. Its where final year students can showcase their portfolios and final collections to the industry, buyers and hopefully, future employers. As well as this, there are several awards that can be won, examples being best womenswear collection and best knitwear.

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to work backstage and dress the models. Unfortunately, i was given the task of dressing the menswear collections. Such a hard life!

Backstage was so exciting! Working with professional models and such great collections was so much fun. Stressful, but fun! My model was called Jack, and although we were rushed off our feet with look changes, he was an absolute delight to work with.

Unfortunately the battery on my camera died so i was unable to take pictures backstage but i have gathered together some of my favourite collections of the day.

The following are a few of the other collections i worked with.

It was an incredibly long and tiring day but most definitely worth it. Being given the opportunity to look at final year portfolios, it gave me something to aim for and was so so inspiring. I would recommend it to any fashion student, current or aspiring.
